2026 Tour Homes

This 5,031 square foot new construction home melds the western influences of one partner with the stylish preferences of the other partner. A pallet of rich greens, earthy reds, deep ochres and warm neutrals became the guiding colors for both the interiors and exteriors. A variety of textures, mixed metals and distinct materials along with curated art pieces were used in each space to create an elevated and inspired vibe.

The Ivanhoe Modern Home proves that exceptional living is possible—even on a constrained site. While the property offered less buildable area than most in the neighborhood due to an expansive rear easement, the design strategically maximizes every square foot to deliver generous, highly functional spaces tailored to this active family.

The first floor is conceived as a seamless entertaining environment. An open plan allows family and guests to move effortlessly from the family and dining areas to a glass-enclosed wine room, an elliptical bar, and ultimately to the home’s standout feature: a fully integrated golf simulator. Expansive sliding glass doors line the rear elevation, framing views of the pool and landscaped yard while dissolving the boundary between indoors and out. An outdoor kitchen and dining terrace extend the entertaining zone, offering direct access from the main kitchen for effortless poolside gatherings. A dedicated scullery provides invaluable back-of-house support—an essential asset for a household with three energetic boys.

The main staircase serves as a sculptural focal point, expressing itself both inside and out. A dramatic two-sided fireplace anchors the two-story family room and foyer, while an upper-level circulation gallery visually connects the home’s private spaces. The primary suite overlooks the pool and features a thoughtfully designed dual-entry bath—allowing access from either side of the bed for intuitive daily flow. Inside, separate his-and-her zones each include a water closet, dressing closet, and shared shower access, creating both privacy and symmetry. Five additional ensuite bedrooms ensure comfort for immediate and extended family alike.

A secondary staircase leads to a more personalized retreat level, where an exercise room and man cave overlook the two-story garage through interior glazing—putting a prized specialty car, displayed on a raised lift, on full view. A dedicated playroom for their boys completes the program, reinforcing the home’s balance of sophistication, recreation, and family-centered design.

This modern residence is conceived as a quiet, inward-focused retreat that balances privacy with openness. Drawing from mid-century modern principles, the home is organized around a central courtyard and pool, allowing natural light and landscape to shape the daily experience. Deep roof overhangs, expansive glazing, and a restrained material palette establish a strong horizontal presence while responding thoughtfully to the Texas climate.

The main living spaces open effortlessly to a covered patio, creating a seamless indoor–outdoor connection suited for both everyday living and entertaining. Warm wood ceilings and refined detailing bring softness and texture to the architecture, while carefully curated views reinforce a sense of calm and connection to nature. Private areas are discreetly positioned to maintain comfort and separation.

At its core, the project reflects a commitment to clarity, proportion, and lasting design—architecture that is purposeful, enduring, and modern.

From the moment you arrive, the home’s emphasis on height and volume is immediately experienced through a striking 14-foot-tall natural wood front door, set within a dramatic double-height entry space. This powerful arrival sequence establishes the architectural scale that continues throughout the house.

Designed on a 6,600 square foot lot, the residence offers approximately 3,800 square feet of living space organized around a courtyard that maximizes natural light and exterior views. A second-floor bridge at the entry connects the front and rear of the home while dividing two expansive double-height volumes. The main living area is anchored by a double-height stone fireplace, reinforcing the vertical expression of the space.

This is a two-story modern home in the museum district area. The renovation has been in three phases, phase one interior, phase two exterior, phase three patio.

The homeowner is an accomplished internationally known artist. Her talent has influenced the architect to create designs that are in harmony with her cultural background. This is more obvious in the design of their patio.
